The Gold Order Period is here!

Gold coins are always one of the year's highlights! This years motifs continue the series "Return of the Wild Animals", "German Craftsmanship", and "Masterpieces of German Literature". All coins are made of fine gold and can only be ordered during the exclusive ordering period from 03.04. to 15.05.2024.

20 euro gold coin “Beaver“

Grey seal (2022) and ibex (2023) are followed by the "beaver". The third motif of the 20 euro gold coin series "Return of Wild Animals" also draws attention to the successful conservation of species in Germany and shows a wild animal that was almost extinct and has now found new habitats again.

The coin, designed by the artist Natalie Tekampe from Egenhofen, is characterized by a lifelike depiction of Germany's largest rodent. Sovereign and wild, it looks directly at the viewer. The dense fur is sculptural on the torso and especially on the head, the tail – the so-called trowel – and the front paws are implemented in great detail. The lettering is adapted to the rounded body and contributes to the harmonious overall impression. The loosely designed value side corresponds in a successful way with the image side.

100 euro gold coin “The broken jug”

The comedy "The Broken Jug" is the second drama written by Heinrich von Kleist (1777–1811). The second coin in the 100-euro gold coin series "Masterpieces of German Literature" is dedicated to the work, which is part of the literary canon in Germany, after the prelude with "Faust (Goethe)".

The coin motif, designed by the artist Bodo Broschat from Berlin, shows a three-part scenery in a richly and finely filled coin round. The focus is on the court hearing with the main characters of the drama, while the trigger and outcome of the plot are depicted on the side wings: on the left, the jug, which is knocked over and breaks while fleeing, on the right, the happy union of Eve and Ruprecht. The triptych expressively condenses the past, present and future of the event, and the composition is, in the words of the jury, "extremely detailed, very skilfully modelled and at the same time worked out in a concentrated manner." The elaboration of the value side corresponds impressively with the image side.

50 euro gold coin “Mobility”

According to the jury, the design by Stefanie Radtke from Leipzig is dedicated to the topic of "mobility" and the importance of craftsmanship in an "extraordinary as well as creative approach. With clever symbolism, the design looks into the future of mobility from the perspective of the skilled trades." Based on the universal hexagon, the symbol of the hexagon is transferred to modular and networked mobility, while the "knowing hand" in the form of a neural network "screws" on the success of the mobility turnaround. The value side harmonizes with the eagle in a hexagonal outline in an unusual way with the image side.
